April last year, right outside their house in Auroville, surrounded by their closest friends and family, Anu & Jhanu sang their vows to each other in the funnest way there is!

Every aspect of the wedding rang true to the kind of people they are: right from their friends being the first people to arrive and deck up the place, the spot they picked for the ‘ceremony’ being a stone bench between two trees, meaningful songs picked out and performed by Kalyani Nair & Deepika Karthik Kumar, Anu singing wedding vows in a playful song about love, as Jhanu played the guitar, the exchange of rings amidst loud cheers and a flower shower, right up to the sheer joy and excitement in every person’s face even on a super hot April day, it felt like we had been given permission to witness someone’s deeply personal and sacred space, and somehow, we also got to document it up close as honestly as we could.

About the evening that followed, I will tell you just this: we whisked away the couple for some portraits by the beach, just before the cocktail party began, and I heard Ram sighing, “This is how the couple shoot in my wedding should have been, with Mira on one side, and my mug of beer on the other!”

Scroll through the blog to see these stories unfold. You will also get to see the kutti story of the chapathi-stealing dog, and the curious story of the perpetually changing shirt of the groom :D

And as a kutti bonus, here’s a little bit of what our humble phone camera saw during this beautiful day :)
